Every dog is different. Every home is different. Every owner is different. That’s why every training journey with DOPE starts with an Assessment, and we come to you.
The word “assessment” can sound daunting, so let’s be clear about what it isn’t. It isn’t a test, nobody is being judged, and there’s no pass or fail for you or your dog. It’s a relaxed conversation in your own home, and a chance for someone to really listen.
Together, we look at:
- Where your dog’s strengths are, and what they already do well
- What’s working at home and out on walks, and what feels harder
- Where training, communication or your relationship could be improved
- Which goals are realistic for your dog and your life
- How we can help, and the best place to start
What happens
Before
You tell Chris what’s happening and what you’d like everyday life to look like instead. There are no wrong answers and nothing to prepare. He takes the time to understand your dog’s history, personality and your goals as an owner.
During
Chris comes to you, so your dog is somewhere familiar. He gets to know your dog calmly and at their pace, and watches how the two of you get on together: how you walk, play, set boundaries and communicate. Everything your dog does tells us something useful, and that includes everything they already do well.
After
You leave with a clear, encouraging plan: the right programme, the right level to start at, and an honest picture of what’s realistic. Most owners move on to the DOPE System at Discover, Optimize or Perfect; some need a behaviour programme or a short MasterClass instead.
